The Future Leaders Program Goldfields was launched in September 2021 and concluded in October 2022. This exciting initiative offered tremendous developmental opportunities to aspiring leaders in the Goldfields region. The program was designed to invest in the next generation of leaders by providing them with opportunities to learn and develop leadership and management skills which will in turn benefit our local and extended region.

The Future Leaders Program 2022 was delivered by Regional Development Australia Goldfields Esperance in partnership with the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Central Regional TAFE. By participating in this program, applicants will study a Certificate IV Leadership & Management, be assigned their very own Mentor, and participate in monthly leadership meetings/business workshops. Participants will also:

  • Develop and strengthen an understanding of teams, workplace relationships and individual motivations
  • Develop and strengthen an understanding of local and regional businesses and their role in driving a local economy
  • Recognise the importance of strong networks and relationships internally and externally in business and the community
  • Focus on building individual leadership and strategic skills

Applications closed on 6 August 2021, the program commenced in September 2021 and concluded in October 2022.

The program officially kicked off at our Welcome Night (thanks to Ken Sharpe for the photos). Throughout the program we held regular Business Workshops at KBCCI where a number of our mentors presented on a broad range of topics including risk management, public speaking, difficult conversations, mental health and wellbeing and leadership styles to complement the formal education on these topics provided by the lecturing team at Central Regional TAFE. We thank all of our mentors and presenters who made the program so successful for our participants. We particularly enjoyed a team building Wine & Art evening hosted by the talented Em Anders.

The program was officially concluded with a celebratory Wind Up Evening at the Kalgoorlie Hotel in October 2022. We would like to congratulate the winners of our Leadership Awards. Alasdair Wilson for Oustanding Achievement and Kyra King for High Achievement in the program - well done to both of you!

Congratulations to all the Future Leaders Program participants and mentors who were either nominated, a winner or a sponsor at the 2021 KBCCI Goldfields Business Awards and the 2022 KBCCI Goldfields Business Awards.

We are proud to see our participants stepping up in the community and demonstrating their leadership skills since commencing the program, including becoming board members at Full Circle, Golden Community Mile (Christmas in the Park) and the Museum of the Goldfields Advisory Committee.
